Wallace State baseball’s starting pitchers dominant during four-game sweep of Lawson State, move Lions into a tie atop ACCC North Division

HANCEVILLE – Wallace State’s starting pitchers collectively found their groove against Lawson State during a four-game conference sweep, which concluded Monday night. The starting unit surrendered only two runs in 24 combined innings, and all four notched victories.
Vinemont product Isaac Yarbrough (3-1) completed the sweep with a gem Monday, yielding only four hits in six scoreless innings. Robby Clements pitched a perfect seventh inning to complete the 4-0 victory.
Alex Hegner (2-2) tossed a two-hit, seven-inning gem in the second game of the series, striking out five in a 4-0 win over the weekend.
Right-handers Bret Marks (3-2) and Jacob Croft (5-3) were also winning pitchers in the series.
Sophomores Nathan Vincent and Jeremiah Tullidge carried the load offensively for Wallace State (19-12, 11-5 ACCC). Vincent finished the series 8-for-14 with a triple, two doubles and eight RBIs, while Tullidge was 9-for-12 with a pair of doubles and five runs scored.
Sawyer Williams contributed six hits and five RBIs during the four-game tilt, Brodie Jeffery had five hits, three RBIs and scored four runs and Zac Hatfield and Haydon Bogard had five hits apiece.
At the halfway point of conference play, Wallace State is currently tied with Shelton State atop the ACCC North Division.
The Lions resume conference play Wednesday, traveling to Snead State for a doubleheader beginning at noon. The games were originally scheduled for Thursday, but pushed up because of potential inclement weather.
Wallace State returns home Saturday, hosting Snead State at 3 p.m.
