Wallace State Baseball Splits with Snead at Home

HANCEVILLE—In baseball at Wallace State-Hanceville on Saturday, the Lions split a double header with Snead State 13-2 and 3-6. Wallace State’s record stands at 21-14 this season and 13-7 in the Alabama Community College Conference, putting them in contention for first place with 18 games to still to play.
The Lions got on the board quickly in the opening game against Snead, scoring five runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning. Sawyer Williams and Zac Hatfield went 2-for-3 at bat with 2 RBIs apiece in the game. Joe Klepac was 1-for-1 with 2 RBIs. Bret Marks (4-2) was the winning pitcher. Marks gave up just one run in five innings, and recorded two strikeouts and four walks.
Though the Lions dropped the second game, it was highlighted by two homeruns by sophomore centerfielder Jeremiah Tullidge, his first homeruns of the season. Nathan Vincent, Andrew Dennis and Wayne Carrell also had hits. Isaac Yarborough (3-2) was saddled with the second game loss. Four runs were scored on his watch but only three of them were earned. Yarborough pitched three and two-thirds innings, gave up five hits and one walk while striking out three.
Next up, the Lions play Shelton State in a double header in Tuscaloosa Thursday, April 11. They will host the Bucs in a 3 p.m. double header at home next Saturday.
