With its 100 percent pass rate, Wallace State proved to be the state’s best practical nursing program, continuing a long-standing tradition of commitment to providing its students with the best and most up-to-date training.
Wallace State’s RN program, which is an associate degree program, also achieved outstanding results with a 92.9 percent pass rate.
“As a testament to the quality of learning that occurs in our nursing program, for 2012-13 our licensure exam pass rate again far exceeded state and national averages. Graduates of university baccalaureate nursing programs sit for the same licensure exam as our two-year graduates, yet Wallace State’s graduates outperformed all but two of Alabama’s sixteen universities last year.  I would say that is a great return on the investment of our state dollars,” said Wallace State President Vicki Hawsey Karolewics.
“We are excited to be recognized for our efforts and so proud of our students who succeeded in passing their licensure exams,” said Deborah Hoover, director of Wallace State’s Nursing Program.
“Ensuring that our students can immediately enter the workforce upon graduation as skilled and caring practitioners is one of our main goals,” Hoover said.  “And the success of those student with their licensure exams is a sign that we are reaching that goal,” she added. Practical nursing students who graduated in 2013 were 100 percent either employed in-field or pursuing higher educational attainment.
