Dr. Tim Alford, Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Economic Development, tours select Wallace State programs

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Dr. Tim Alford, the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Economic Development, visited Wallace State Community College recently and toured multiple departments, including technical and health programs.
Alford was joined by Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics, Vice President Dr. Tomesa Smith and Dean of Applied Technologies Jimmy Hodges during his visit and gained insight about the college’s widely respected workforce training programs from Wallace State instructors and students.
Alford toured the following Wallace State programs: Industrial Electronics/Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, HVAC, Machine Tool Technology, Tool and Die, CNC Machining, Diesel Technology, Welding, Dental Hygiene, and the School of Nursing Simulation Center. He also visited with high school students enrolled in the newest Fast Track to Industry program that is a best practice partnership between Wallace State and Cullman County Schools.
“Dr. Alford expressed his appreciation for what we are doing at Wallace State and admired all that we have achieved and are attempting to accomplish.  He acknowledged the many best practices here in workforce development initiatives and partnerships,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics.
Alford was appointed Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Economic Development in July by Alabama Community College System Chancellor Dr. Mark Heinrich. Alford has valuable and lengthy experience in both the educational and workforce areas. Alford has previously served as the mayor of Enterprise and as a teacher, principal, assistant principal, assistant superintendent, superintendent and Dean of Development at Enterprise State.
