WSCC Alumni Association plans December trip to the Smokies

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Even though it’s not even summer yet, the Wallace State Community College Alumni Association is in the holiday spirit as it plans a December trip to North Carolina and Tennessee. The four-night Holiday Magic in the Smokies tour is planned for Dec. 5-9, with overnight stays in Asheville, N.C., and Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
The deluxe motorcoach trip will depart from the Wallace State campus on Monday, Dec. 5 and travel to Asheville, N.C., where accommodations at the Doubletree Hotel have been secured. There, visitors will enjoy a guided tour of Asheville, view the National Gingerbread House Competition entries at the Grove Park Inn and enjoy a candlelight tour of the Biltmore House, which will be decked out for the season.
After two nights in Asheville, the tour will travel to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and stay two nights in the new Dream More Resort, built adjacent to Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park. While in Pigeon Forge, visitors will enjoy a dinner show at Hatfield and McCoy Christmas Dinner Show, dinner at the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and the Smoky Mountain Opry Christmas Spectacular. There will also be time for shopping at the Five Oaks Outlet Mall, a guided tour of the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery, and an optional visit to Dollywood, which will be decorated with more than 4 million lights and presenting its award-winning Christmas shows.
All transportation, parking, admissions and lodging fees (excluding the optional Dollywood visit) are included in the cost of the trip, which includes eight meals: four breakfasts and four dinners. Costs range in price depending on room occupancy from single to quad and start at $650 (Alumni Association discount rate for quad occupancy) and go up to $1,099 (non-member single occupancy). Alumni Association members receive a $100 discount on trips. Alumni membership is $25 per person. Anyone may join the association at www.wsccalumni.org.
