Holiday group tour of Natchez planned by Wallace State Alumni Association

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Community College Alumni Association is now taking reservations for a holiday trip to Natchez, Miss. An Antebellum Christmas is the theme of the trip planned for November 30 through December 3, 2017
The four-day, three-night road trip will depart from Wallace State on Thursday, Nov. 30, with a destination of Ridgeland, Miss., for a one-night stay at the Hyatt Place Hotel. They hotel is part of the Renaissance at Colony Park, a Mediterranean-inspired shopping area. Dinner that evening will be at the Cock of the Walk Restaurant located on the edge of scenic Ross Barnett Reservoir.
From Ridgeland, Miss., the tour will head to Natchez, Miss., on day two, with a stop at the Natchez Visitor Center first on the agenda. A tour there will include a History of Natchez film, as well as a guided city and cemetery tour, led by a native of Natchez. The afternoon will include the Jeweled Christmas Tour at The Towers, one of the most unique seasonal tours in the South.
The group will spend two nights at the Hotel Vue, located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. After check-in and a little down time, the group will enjoy a three-course meal at the hotel’s The Pilot House restaurant, following by a show by the Natchez Christmas Cabaret as part of the Natchez Festival of Music.
Day three of the trip begins at the Frogmore Plantation’s “Christmas in the Quarters” tour, which will include stories of the Old South – Civil War soldiers, cotton kingpins, slaves and share-croppers. Lunch will be at the Carriage House Restaurant at Stanton Hall, followed by a tour of that antebellum mansion and Longwood mansion, the largest octagonal house in America. The evening will conclude in downtown Natchez, with a viewing for the Natchez Christmas parade, followed by a Progressive Dinner and Ghost Tour.
The final day of the tour will include a drive along the Natchez Trace and visits to the Windsor Ruins, Vicksburg National Military Park, and the USS Cairo Gunboat Museum. After lunch in Vicksburg, the group will begin the trip home to Wallace State.
The trip is open to the public; WSCC Alumni Association members enjoy a $100 discount on the cost. The annual membership fee to join the Association is $25, and membership is open to the public.
The cost of the trip, based on occupancy and Alumni Association membership, ranges from $670 to $1,105 per person. The cost includes motor coach transportation, hotel accommodations, seven meals (3 breakfasts, 1 lunch, three dinners), admission for all activities listed, gratuities, and baggage handling.
A $200 deposit is required to hold your registration, and final payment is due by Nov. 1. Registration can be completed online at www.wsccalumni.org/Natchez17.
