HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State softball sophomore Taylor Beshears was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NJCAA 2nd-team All-American this week.

Beshears, who has signed with Jacksonville State, capped a stellar career with Wallace State during her sophomore season. Playing primarily at catcher, she hit .453 with a team-high 17 home runs and 45 RBIs. She added 23 doubles and 10 stolen bases.

Before this week’s recognition, Beshears was named an Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC)/Region 22 1st-team selection, a NFCA 1st-team All-South Region selection and was the 2017 ACCC Tournament MVP in early May.

Beshears helped Wallace State softball win its third straight ACCC tournament title and 11th overall. The team also made its 11th appearance at the NJCAA Division I National Championship in St. George, Utah.

As a freshman, Beshears was named a 3rd-team NJCAA All-American after setting Wallace State single-season records in RBIs (84) and doubles (33). Beshears, who also played on the infield, was a part of 88 wins at Wallace State and had 30 homers and 129 RBIs during her two seasons in Hanceville.

Wallace State outfielder Amber Hammonds recently earned recognition from the NFCA as an All-South Region 3rd-team selection. She was also named to the All-ACCC/Region 22 first team after hitting .373 with 15 homers and 45 RBIs during her sophomore season with the Lions. Hammonds added a team-high 16 steals and closed her Wallace State career with 20 home runs, 73 RBIs and 44 stolen bases.

Additionally, Hammonds and Beshears were high school teammates at Hewitt-Trussville. Hammonds has signed to play for UAH next season.
