homeward-boung-logHANCEVILLE, Ala. — Area residents will be able to step back in time through song as the Wallace State Community College Choir presents “Homeward Bound: The Story of the American Folk Song” on Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m., in the Burrow Center Recital Hall.

Concert Choir Director Tiffany Richter said the program will provide an overview of American folk tunes. “Songs like Shenandoah, Deep River, Down in the Valley, etc., originating from the early years of American music, have offered comfort, pleasure and hope to people throughout the last four centuries of American life,” Richter said.

Admission is a $10 donation for adults and $5 donation for students. Tickets can be purchased or reserved in advance by contacting Stefany Keisler at 256.352.8277 or stefany.pate@wallacestate.edu.

The Wallace State Choir is made up of Wallace State students from all different programs across the campus. The choir accepts new students each semester; no auditions are required to join the group.
