Wallace State’s women’s basketball’s Sadler, Hill sign with Middle Georgia; Osteen with Huntingdon

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s women’s basketball team recently had three players sign with four-year programs.
Joy Sadler and Gabby Hill signed with Middle Georgia, located in Macon, Ga., while Alexis Osteen inked with Huntingdon College in Montgomery.
Sadler, a 5-foot-10 forward from Gardendale, was one of Wallace State’s most versatile players over the past two seasons and one of the conference’s top players. She was an All-ACCC/Region 1st-team selection during the 2017-2018 season after averaging 13.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. She registered nine double-doubles, shot 42 percent from the field and served as a 3-point threat.
“It was important to me to do all I could to benefit the team, and I loved every minute at Wallace State. I’m excited to continue something I love and thankful for the opportunity,” Sadler said.
Hill was also a key piece to Wallace State finishing with a 23-8 record this past season and advancing to the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) semifinals. Hill, a 5-foot-6 guard from Hewitt-Trussville, was a 2nd-team ACCC All-North Division selection after averaging 12.1 points per game and leading the team in 3-pointers made (51).
“Joy and Gabby were both so versatile for us. You could use them in any situation. Gabby is one of those players who is the glue to the team and you miss her when she’s not on the floor. If we needed her defense, for her to bring the ball down the court or to hit a big shot, she was there,” said Wallace State interim women’s basketball coach Jessica McBrayer. “Joy was a playmaker for us and carried a consistent attitude, whether on the court or in the huddle. She was a team captain and an All-Conference player and it’s hard to replace that.”
Hill is thrilled to be joining Sadler with the Lady Knights, who play in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
“It’s great to know Joy and I are going to Middle Georgia together. We try to push each other,” Hill said.
Osteen, a Tennessee native, was among Wallace State’s weapons in the backcourt, serving as a 3-point specialist.
“Alexis Osteen is the epitome of a hard worker. She comes to the gym every day and works hard. She knows her role and is a great teammate,” McBrayer said. “The plan for her at Huntingdon is to be on the wing and to shoot. You couldn’t pick more of pure shooter than Alexis. She will fit in well down there.”
Added Osteen: “I loved the facilities Huntingdon had among the colleges interested in me, and they want me to do what I do best and that’s shoot. It’s very exciting to know I was wanted,” Osteen said.
