“Our Christmas Spectacular is one of the times each year all of our fine and performing arts programs band together to create a complete show for the community,” said Ricky Burks, chair of Wallace State Fine and Performing Arts. “The bands, choirs and theatre and dance troupes work together to spotlight each program during the concert and provide an entertaining and fun evening for our audience.”
Traditional Christmas classics will be mixed in with more modern pieces, such as a rendition of a hip-hop reindeer song, Burks said of the variety show. The audience can also expect performances by area students participating in the SingKids! program.
The various performing arts programs will present pieces separately and in combination with other programs. For example, Brooke Desnoës, Wallace State’s new Dance instructor, said her group will present a neoclassical dance piece with the Concert Band providing the music for the performance.
Admission to the Christmas Spectacular is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Stefany Keisler at 256.352.8277 or stefany.keisler@wallacestate.edu. Visit www.wallacestate.edu/fpa for more information about Wallace State’s Fine and Performing Arts programs.
