Nance’s fourth double-double of season guides Wallace State women past Chattanooga State

HANCEVILLE – Sophomore forward Ashley Nance finished with a double-double, three other Lady Lions finished with double figures and Wallace State’s women’s basketball team notched an impressive 78-66 victory over Chattanooga (Tenn.) State at Tom Drake Coliseum Monday night.
Nance tallied her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds, two days after a 23-point, 14-rebound winning effort against Wallace-Selma.
Point guard Jaylan Snowden scored 15 points and collected five rebounds for Wallace State, Brandee Busenlehner knocked three 3-pointers in the first half, finishing with 11 points and six rebounds, and Presley Darling added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Wallace State outrebounded the Lady Tigers 66-47, grabbing 25 offensive boards.
“This was a quality win against a team that started the season ranked and one we’ve seen before at the national tournament. I was thoroughly, thoroughly impressed with our effort, especially after the sluggish spurts we had Saturday,” said Wallace State coach Ron Burdette, whose team won its third in a row. “We spread the wealth in this one, meaning we didn’t just rely on Jaylan Snowden and Ashley Nance. Brandee Busenlehner hit some big shots, Kendall Greene played well and Presley Darling had one of her better games in a Wallace State uniform.”
Jasmine Coleman contributed seven points off the bench for Wallace State (7-3).
Four Wallace State players hit 3-pointers in the first half, helping the team maintain a 40-32 cushion at halftime. The Lady Lions extended it to as many as 14 points in the second half after a 3-point play by Nance at the 6:08 mark.
Wallace State travels to Wallace-Selma on Saturday, playing the Lady Patriots for the second time in a week.
