Wallace State basketball teams hosting Snead State for homecoming Saturday
HANCEVILLE – Wallace State’s basketball teams have approached the halfway point of Alabama Community College Conference play and seek to build momentum for March as they host Snead State for homecoming on Saturday at Tom Drake Coliseum.
Admission is free to both games, beginning with the women’s contest at 1 p.m. The men will follow at approximately 3 p.m.
Wallace State’s women notched a nonconference victory at Chattanooga (Tenn.) State on Monday, prevailing 78-44. The Lady Lions (17-8, 3-2 ACCC) are led by sophomore forward Ashley Nance, who averages a double-double, accounting for 16.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.
Freshman point guard Jaylan Snowden averages 9.6 points per game and leads the team in assists and steals.
Wallace State’s men’s team, the defending ACCC state champs, lost a tough conference game at Marion Military on Monday, falling 87-86.
Three players average double figures for the Lions (14-11, 1-6 ACCC). Jestin Lewis pours in a team-high 15.4 points per game, Jamalcolm Griffin scores 11.9 and Jacquise Moore 11.8. Ryan King leads the ACCC Northern Division with 71 blocks.
Including Saturday’s games, Wallace State has three home doubleheaders remaining (Gadsden State on Feb. 18 and Lawson State on Feb. 28).
Additionally, Wallace State will host the women and men’s ACCC/Region 22 tournaments on March 3-9.
