HANCEVILLE – Wallace State’s Student Government Association’s (SGA) executive officers and members enjoyed lunch with President Dr. Vicki Hawsey recently, exchanging ideas about student involvement on campus and upcoming events, among other items.
Wallace State’s SGA is a student-driven organization intended to provide active student self-government on campus. Adam Hale of Vinemont is this year’s SGA president, Taylor Quick of Cullman is vice president, and Levi Ponder of Falkville is secretary. Remaining SGA members are Ryan Hale of Vinemont, Seth Fuller of Cullman and Bradley Osborne of Arab.
SGA members serve as college ambassadors and actively participate during campus and community events. Last month, the group visited the Victorian Manor assisted living facility in Hanceville, playing a variety of games with the residents. The SGA members will represent the Wallace State student body at the Alabama Community College System Legislative Leadership Day breakfast and meeting in Montgomery on March 13-14.
Other activities planned this semester include assisting the Healthy Campus Initiative Committee during its Health Link tent event on March 19 and the Student Alumni Association with its “Yard Party” on April 11. They are also working to build a plan for service projects and other student activities for next fall.
Greg Mayo is the Wallace State faculty co-sponsor.
The Wallace State Academy of Culinary Arts prepared the lunch the SGA shared with Dr. Hawsey.
