HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Nurses in Cullman County and surrounding areas are invited to attend the 2013 Nursing Alumni Connection on Friday, April 19, at the Bailey Center at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.
The annual conference will offer area nurses an opportunity to earn six hours of continuing education unit credits, as well as provide them with networking opportunities, the chance to catch up with former instructors and classmates, and provide assistance to future nursing students in the form of scholarships.
“It’s a great time for staff or former graduates to come back and visit with faculty as well as their previous classmates,” said Deborah Hoover, Director of the WSCC Nursing program. “It’s a chance to network with other employers in the area and to network with other nurses, to share ideas, to explore new topics.”
In addition, the conference will serve as a celebration of recent achievements by the program and look toward its future.
“This year we’re celebrating the successful completion of our eight-year reaffirmation of accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission for the Associate Degree program as well as a new voluntary accreditation for our Practical Nursing program,” Hoover said. “We will also be looking forward to the completion of our new state-of-the art facility currently under construction and expected to open in the fall of this year.”
The one-day conference themed “Nursing: Your Vital Connection,” will offer five classes with instructors from Wallace State, Alacare Home Health, the Alabama Department of Public Health, and the University of Alabama.
Registration is $35 in advance and $45 the day of the event. The fee includes a continental breakfast and networking lunch. Exhibits will be on display and door prizes will be awarded.
