HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Want smoked chicken but don’t want to go to the trouble of doing it yourself? Let the Alabama Poultry and Egg Association Allied Industry Committee do it for you and help a Wallace State student at the same time.
The committee will be selling the famous Auburn University Poultry Science smoked chickens on June 20 at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville. The chicken is brined and hickory smoked for a one-of-a-kind flavor. They weigh about 4 pounds and will be sold for $5 each. Stock up on several for those days when you’re too busy to cook.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit a scholarship to a Wallace State student who intends to transfer to Auburn University and major in poultry science.
Pre-payment is required to reserve an order and orders must be submitted by Friday, June 14. Orders of 20 or more can be delivered. Other orders can be picked up between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on June 20 in front of the Poultry Science building, near the greenhouses on the southwest section of the Wallace State campus.
To place an order, send your name, phone number, the number of chickens you would like to order, and payment to: Ray Hilburn, AP&EA, P.O. Box 240, Montgomery, AL 36101-0240, call (334) 265-2732, fax (334) 265-0008 or email ray@alabamapoultry.org. Make checks payable to Alabama Poultry Foundation.
