HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Anyone who loves antiques will have the opportunity to indulge that interest during a day trip on July 18 organized through the Wallace State Community College Alumni Association.
The Antique Outing will depart from the parking lot at Wallace State’s Tom Drake Coliseum. Participants will begin boarding a bus shortly after 7 a.m. and each will depart at 7:30 a.m. and return by 5 p.m.
The first stop will be close to home at Lavender and Lace Antiques in Hanceville. There, Suzanne Messersmith of Interior Refiners will give a presentation how to repurpose your own items to enliven your home décor.
From there, the group will head to Boaz’s Past Times Antique Mall, the Unclaimed Baggage Center and Scottsboro Antiques in Scottsboro, and finally to Southern Traditions Antique mall in Guntersville.
Lunch will be at McCutchen’s Magnolia House Restaurant and is included in the trip’s fee.
The fee for the Antique Outing is $35, with a July 11 registration deadline. You can register by logging on to http://wsccalumni.org/antiques.
Registration can also be completed by calling Natalie Godwin at (256) 352-7808.
Proceeds from the trips will benefit the association’s scholarship program.
“This is a great opportunity for shoppers to save a little money on gas, let someone else do the driving and enjoy the camaraderie of others with similar interests,” said LaDonna Allen, Alumni Association Coordinator. “Plus, you will be helping provide scholarships to deserving students.”
Anyone is welcome to participate in the events. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call Godwin or visit the Alumni Association website at www.wsccalumni.org.
