WSCC students staging ‘Broadway and Beyond’
HANCEVILLE — The sounds of Broadway will ring out from the Burrow Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Wallace State Community College Thursday night as students from the theater department present “Broadway and Beyond.”
The show is the only WSCC production completely staged and choreographed by the students, said theater major Paige Harbison, who is coordinating the event as well as performing. “Every number you will see is completely student lead,” she said.
Along with current Wallace State students, WSCC graduate Stefany Pate will return to participate. A recent graduate of UAB with a bachelor in communications, Pate has choreographed many of the numbers in “Broadway and Beyond.”
“Stefany was so kind to come back and share her talents with us for ‘Broadway and Beyond,’” Harbison said.
“She has won many awards nationally for dance and choreography and has been a very integral part of making ‘Broadway and Beyond’ the amazing show that it is going to be,” Harbison added. “She is very talented in many areas of dance, including acro, tap and jazz. It will be worth coming to the show just to see her on stage.”
Two showings of “Broadway and Beyond” will be offered on Thursday, with the first at 9:30 a.m. and the other at 7 p.m. Admission is $5. The public is welcome to attend.
