Wallace State’s Student Government Association holds Mardi Gras Spring Dance

HANCEVILLE – Wallace State’s Student Government Association hosted a Mardi Gras Spring Dance last week and both Miss Wallace State Catee Moss and Brittany Robinson, the 2014 Wallace State Homecoming Queen, were in attendance.
The black-tie event was held at the Student Center and was open to all students and members of the community who were at least 17 years old.
Free masquerade masks were given away at the party along with beads and free snacks and drinks.
Moss, a Hayden native, was named Miss Wallace State last month and Robinson was named Homecoming Queen in February.
Wallace State’s SGA has been busy this academic year. In November, the group encouraged students and employees to participate in “The Big Thank You 2013,” a letter writing campaign designed to send notes of encouragement and appreciation to American troops deployed outside of the United States. The goal was to make sure Wallace State did its part in helping a soldier receive a “Thank You” letter by Thanksgiving, personally thanking individuals for the sacrifices each makes on a daily basis.
Wallace State’s SGA group also makes weekly visits to the Victorian Manor assisted living facility in Hanceville, playing bocce ball with the residents. Students have also assisted with various campus events since last semester and conducted a food drive at Christmas and assisted with Oktoberfest activities in Cullman.
