Golf tournament to help fund WSCC scholarships

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — With the greening of the grass, thoughts for some are sure to be turning to the golf course. On Friday, April 18, those thoughts can be put into action in a way that will benefit student athletes at Wallace State Community College through the 2014 Drive for Dreams golf tournament.
The Wallace State Alumni Association and the Athletics Department will hold the 3rd annual WSCC Lions Golf Classic at Terri Pines Country Club. The event is held each year to raise funds for scholarships to support Wallace State student athletes and to build community support for the college’s nationally-recognized athletic programs.
“This tournament gives Wallace State the opportunity to help an athlete achieve his or her dream of competing at the college level and ease some of the burden so they can focus on their education as well as their athletic endeavors,” said Paul Bailey, Wallace State’s Athletic Director. “Everyone who participatse in the tournament, whether as a player or a sponsor, is an integral part of helping our students achieve those dreams.”
This year’s tournament will feature a “Tee Box Taste,” with area restaurants offering samples of their menu items as golfers progress through the golf course. In addition, a full lunch and awards reception will be provided to all golfers and sponsors.
Individual and team golfers are welcome to participate in the event. Individual golfers can register for a donation of $100 and be placed on a team. A team of four can register for a $400 donation.
Sponsorships are also available for businesses that would like to support Wallace State’s student athletes. Several sponsorships offer recognition through event advertising and promotion as well as spots for teams of four. Other sponsorships are available for the “Tee Box Tasting” and Tee Sponsors. All donations are tax deductible.
