HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Priority registration is currently under way for students at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Ala., with open registration set to begin on July 21.
This fall, Wallace State is offering two brand new program options. The Patient Care Specialist program was designed to create a high quality entry point into the medical field.  The Transportation Management program was established to fulfill a need recognized by local transportation businesses.
Within one year, students completing the Patient Care Specialist program can earn stackable certificates in multiple specialties, increasing their marketability in the workforce. The certificates they will earn include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Electrocardiography (EKG) Technician. They will also earn a Career Readiness Assessment Certificate, giving them resume-building and interview skills.
The Transportation Management program will offer an Associate in Applied Science degree, which will include 27 semester hours in transportation management classes as well 15 hours in core business classes plus general required courses. Once completed, the transportation management degree can help graduates earn positions as an office manager, transportation specialist, accounts receivable specialists and more.
As always, Wallace State is ready to aid anyone wishing to further their education, whether it’s recent high school graduates, displaced workers looking for a new career, or someone looking for a new hobby or to audit a course. Along with traditional day classes, many courses also offer classes at night, online and hybrid courses that combine online with occasional on-site classes. The college also offers classes at off-campus sites at Addison, Brewer, Hayden and J.B. Pennington high schools.
Registration can be completed online or at Wallace State’s Lion Central, located in the lobby of the Bailey Center. Lion Central is the one-stop center for admissions, advising and financial aid. Lion Central is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
