Wallace State volleyball wins 11th straight match with comfortable victory over Jeff Davis
HANCEVILLE – Wallace State’s volleyball team extended its winning streak to 11 with a comfortable 25-10, 25-10, 25-9 victory over Jeff Davis at Tom Drake Coliseum on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Sidney Cooper had eight kills and six digs and Savanna Tidwell finished with nine digs and five kills as the Lions continued their dominance in Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) action. Wallace State (16-3, 6-0 ACCC), the five-time defending region champion, hasn’t lost a set all season to a league foe.
“All conference victories are important. We were able to let our role players start and grab some quality minutes. That’s always good. It reverses their roles a little bit. It also helps create more team chemistry,” said Wallace State coach Randy Daniel.
Wallace State sophomore Olivia Walker finished the match with a team-high 21 digs, Kheala Roberts contributed eight kills and two blocks, Stephanie Eckerd had seven kills and three digs, Teryn Simmons had seven kills and two digs, Kaci Kirk had six assists, Melissa-Paul Hill had four digs and CeCe Hall added four kills.
Wallace State has allowed an average of only 11.7 points per set in its last two matches against Gadsden State and Jeff Davis.
The Lions travel to Wallace-Selma on Thursday for their next conference match.
