Wallace State’s volleyball team inches closer to sixth consecutive ACCC tournament championship
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Syretha Pride finished with 15 kills and eight blocks, Montana Clark added 12 digs and nine kills and Wallace State’s volleyball team cruised to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-14 victory over Snead State in its Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC)/District 0 and P tournament opener at Tom Drake Coliseum on Saturday.
Top-seeded Wallace State (33-8) is two wins away from winning its sixth consecutive conference tournament title. The Lions breezed by the Parsons like they did all league foes during the regular season.
Wallace State, which won the regular season title for the seventh straight year, never trailed during the three games. In the second game, Snead State tied the Lions at 9-9, but Wallace State allowed only six points the remainder of the set, winning 25-15.
Wallace State sophomore BreAnna Thompson finished the match with nine kills, Alexandra Gamble had 21 assists and three digs, Savanna Tidwell had 10 digs and seven kills, Sarah Ellen Battles finished with nine digs, Kaci Kirk contributed six assists and Bethany Johnson and Kheala Roberts each added five kills.
Wallace State plays second-seeded Faulkner State in a winner’s bracket game later today. The championship is set for Sunday at 2 p.m.
