Wallace State hosts approximately 250 Alabama community college students during Student Leadership Institute

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State Community College hosted approximately 250 students from within the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) during the 2015 Alabama Deans of Students Student Leadership Institute, held last Thursday and Friday at the college’s newly renovated James C. Bailey Center Auditorium and the School of Nursing and Center for Science.
Wallace State was represented by seven students of its own during the SLI event, which focused on “Reel Leadership” and was led by Amy Gallimore, the Director of Awesomeness for the Tri Leadership Resources group. Gallimore, a Tennessee native, conducted multiple, fun activities to help the students engage and interact with each other. Students also participated in exercises to determine personality traits, enhanced their teamwork abilities and worked on providing constructive feedback.
Each student and college sponsor was treated to a dinner on Thursday night at the School of Nursing and Center for Science.
The Alabama Community College System (ACCS) is made up of Alabama Southern, Bevill State, Bishop State, Calhoun, Central Alabama, Chattahoochee Valley, Drake State, Enterprise State, Faulkner State, Gadsden State, Ingram State Technical College, Jeff Davis, Jeff Davis, Jefferson State, Lawson State, Lurleen B. Wallace, Marion Military Institute, Northeast Alabama, Northwest Shoals, Reid State, Shelton State, Snead State, Southern Union, Trenholm State, Wallace Community College – Dothan, Wallace State Community College and Wallace Community College – Selma.
Wallace State students represented at the 2015 SLI were Lee Morton of Snead, Caleb Downing, Hanceville; Chelsea Sloan, Corner; Madison Shaw, Pelham; Jade Kennedy, Empire; Devon Green, Eva and Mackenzie Baswell of Vinemont.
