Wallace State volleyball notches conference victory over Lawson State, extending ACCC streak to 16 matches
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s volleyball team swept Lawson State on the road Friday night, earning its second conference victory in three days.
CeCe Hall paced the way with 12 kills and four blocks, Kelsea Bivins added 12 kills and a pair of blocks and Wallace State prevailed 25-14, 25-14, 25-11 over the Cougars.
The Lions (11-3, 2-0 Alabama Community College Conference) have now won 16 regular season conference matches in a row. Their last ACCC loss was on Oct. 23, 2014.
August Newberry finished with 21 digs for Wallace State on Friday, Alexandra Gamble had 23 assists, Kheala Roberts had six kills and Sidney Cooper added eight digs.
Wallace State opened conference action on Wednesday, beating Southern Union 25-18, 25-15, 25-14 on the road.
Hall had 14 kills and two blocks for Wallace State against the Bison, while Roberts added nine kills.
Newberry finished with 27 digs, Davis finished with 14 digs and six kills, Gamble collected 19 assists and Tara Miller added 17 assists for the Lions.
Bivins added seven kills for Wallace State and MaKenzie Bearden had four kills and two digs.
Wallace State, the six-time defending ACCC champion, continues conference play Wednesday at Snead State. The Lions first home match is Sept. 16 vs. Gadsden State.
