Wallace State’s BASS fishing club fulfills Christmas wishes through “Gifts for Kids Angel Tree” program
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s BASS fishing club recently raised funds in order to fulfill the Christmas wishes of five foster children or those in need during the holiday season. Wallace State’s anglers adopted five children through the Salvation Army’s “Gifts for Kids Angel Tree” program.
The BASS club accumulated $500 throughout the holiday drive and adopted three boys and two girls for the project.
While the children’s full names and locations are anonymous, Wallace State purchased items such as toys, basketballs, video games and clothes, among other gifts, with the intentions of more than meeting their respective wish lists.
Wallace State angler Josh Butts, a welding student, said the Angel Tree fundraiser has been one of the most popular fundraisers the club has participated in over the last two years.
According to its website, the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides new clothing or toys for children of needy families through the support of donors. Angel Trees are decorated with numbered paper angels with the first name, age and gender of a child in need of presents. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags.
