OTA/PTA Alumni Connection planned at Wallace State

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Occupational Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapist Assistants in the area can earn continuing education credits and network with others in their fields at an April 14 event at Wallace State Community College.
The Wallace State Alumni Association and the Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physical Therapist Assistant programs will host the OTA/PTA Alumni Connection from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 14, at the James C. Bailey Center. The event is open to the public and all participant fees are inclusive of up to three continuing education courses with related materials, continental breakfast, lunch and breaks provided.
Three sessions are being offered during the day, with the potential for participants to earn up to seven contact hours of continuing education credit. All of the courses meet the continuing education guideline provided by the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy and the Alabama Board of Occupational Therapy.
The courses offered include Dementia Care: We are the secret to their success, for three contact hours; A Healthcare Professional’s Guide to Human Trafficking, for one contact hour; and Practical Approaches in Rehabilitation of Patients with Dementia, for three contact hours.
In between the sessions, participants will be able to visit with one another and with exhibitors for valuable networking opportunities.
Registration fees range from $15 for current WSCC OTA and PTA students to $235 for non-WSCC alumni physical therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapist assistants and occupational therapy assistants. Participants are encouraged to register early to avoid the onsite registration fee of $250.
