Hanceville, Ala.—Area students awarded scholarships by Wallace State Community College in Hanceville were recognized during a ceremony on campus recently.

“This is an occasion that we look forward to every year. We are honored that you have chosen Wallace State,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Hawsey Karolewics.

The third largest community college in the Alabama Community College System, Wallace State has been ranked among the top 120 community colleges in the United States by the Aspen Institute, and No. 2 in the South for workforce development. The college is also a leader in higher education in the health sciences, having ranked among the top 20 in the U.S. among community colleges for the health science graduates it produces, and offering more associate degree health programs than an other college in Alabama.

“Our goal is to make sure that every student is ready for college, ready for work and ready for life by the time they graduate here,” said Dr. Karolewics.
