Join WSCC Alumni Association today to fund scholarships, enjoy benefits

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Community College Alumni Association will kick off its annual membership drive in August, but alumni and friends of the college can get ahead of the game and join now. Members who join before the start of the 2016-2017 membership drive will enjoy their membership benefits for the remainder of this year plus next year.
The WSCC Alumni Association funds scholarships for Wallace State students who may not qualify for traditional financial aid or who need to supplement the aid they receive. Over the years, the Association has provided thousands of students the opportunity to continue their education and improve their lives. Funding from Association members makes that possible.
Membership does have its perks. Along with the knowledge they are helping students reach their dreams, Alumni Association member benefits include discounts at local partner businesses as well as through national programs such as Working Advantage and HotelStorm. Working Advantage offers discounts on travel, entertainment and tickets, restaurants and more. HotelStorm offers hotel discounts from 10 to 55 percent.
Local partner businesses who offer discounts to Alumni members include Dairy Queen (Hanceville), Luna’s BBQ, Pasquale’s Pizza, Pizza Hut (Hanceville), Hardees (Hanceville), WSCC Athletics, WSCC Bookstore an WSCC Therapeutic Massage Clinic.
Other perks offered to members are discounts or free items during Food Truck Day events held on campus throughout the year, special events and activities, scholarships offered specifically to Association members, and a special annual gift. This year’s gift is a 7-in-1 stationary kit.
The Association also offers a travel program with discounted prices for Alumni Association members. Trips offered through the travel program include everything from one-day adventures to surrounding areas to multi-day excursions to points of interests across the United States. The Association just returned from a week spent touring the Pacific Northwest. The next trip planned is a December tour of the Smoky Mountains with stops in Asheville, NC and Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
Membership is open to everyone who wishes to support the Association’s scholarship programs. Students may join for an annual fee of $15. The regular membership fee is $25 annually or a one-time lifetime membership fee of $250. Donations may also be made to an individual program. Membership year is from September 1 to August 30.
