Wallace State marketing team earns most top awards at ACCSPRA Conference

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Communications and Marketing team at Wallace State Community College walked away the big winner at the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association (ACCSPRA) Pyramid Awards brunch on Thursday, Sept. 8, earning a Best in Show award and the most first-place awards of any community college in the system.
The college’s “Hunger” ad received the Best in Show award in the print category, as well as the first-place award in the print advertising category. That top finish was one of nine first-place awards. Added to four second-place finishes and three third-place awards the college received a total of 17 awards.
Awards presented to the college included:

  • Best in Show – Print: Hunger ad
  • First place: Wallace State website, President’s Report, Summer 2016 schedule, News You Can Use newsletter, Wallace State Health and Technical program brochures; student publication, print advertisement, museum publication, online advertising
  • Second place: 2015-2016 Catalog, News Placement – Oneonta site, Adult Education brochure, direct mail postcards
  • Third place: Outdoor advertising, Dual Enrollment commercial, and electronic publications.

The Communications and Marketing team is made up of director Kristen Holmes, media specialist Jesse Cobb, coordinator Gail Crutchfield, and writer Russell Moore.
The awards presentation was part of the ACCSPRA Annual Conference during which Holmes was elected to serve as the president of ACCSPRA for 2016-2017.
