Leadership Wallace State group meets with acting Chancellor Jimmy Baker; enjoys Economic Development day
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Over the past few months, Wallace State’s 2016-2017 Leadership Wallace State group has toured the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) office in Montgomery, where they met with acting Chancellor Jimmy Baker, and toured Alabama Cullman Yutaka Technologies (ACYT) as part of an Economic Development day trip.
In Montgomery, the group was also recognized at a board meeting and toured the state Capitol building. During the Economic Development day, the group also attended a Cullman Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
The 2016-17 Leadership Wallace State group consists of employees Kristi Barnett, Jaime Kilpatrick, Karen Morris, Weslie Powell, Blake Ray, Kassie Ray, Allison Robertson, Jamie Robertson, Wesley Sams, Tanya Shearer, Cynthia Smith, Susan Stephens and Christine Wiggins.
Wallace State began the Leadership WSCC initiative in 2006 with the goal of cultivating leaders in programs and departments all across campus. Beginning with the fall semester each year, the group meets monthly.
In addition to the Montgomery and Economic Development trips, the 2016-2017 group has toured Wallace State’s campus and learned more about the college’s initiatives, engaged in team building and communication exercises and attended the John Maxwell Live event at the Highlands Church in Birmingham last month. Maxwell’s “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership: Follow Them and People Will Follow You,” is a common read among the annual Leadership groups at Wallace State.
In April, a handful of teams among the group will present ways to better enhance the student experience to the Wallace State Cabinet.
