Still time to reserve space on an Antebellum Christmas tour of Natchez, Miss.

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Anyone who has ever wanted to see Antebellum homes all decked out for the holidays can do that and more when the Wallace State Community College Alumni Association takes a group of travelers on a holiday trip to Natchez, Miss. An Antebellum Christmas tour will be from November 30 through December 3, 2017.
The trip will make stops in Natchez and Vicksburg, Miss., with visits to Antebellum mansions, Civil War sites and more. The tour fees include lodging and transportation, admission fees to all activities on the agenda, seven meals (3 breakfasts, 1 lunch, three dinners), gratuities, and baggage handling.
The four-day, three-night road trip will depart from Wallace State on Thursday, Nov. 30, on a motor coach, with a destination of Vicksburg, Miss., for a one-night stay at the Hampton Inns and Suites. While in Vicksburg, participants will have a guided tour at the Vicksburg National Military Park, a family-style Southern dinner at the Walnut Hills Restaurant, and tour the Old Courthouse Museum.
The tour will head to Natchez, Miss., on day two, with a stop at the Natchez Visitor Center first on the agenda. Time there will include “The Natchez Story” film and the afternoon will include the Jeweled Christmas Tour at The Towers, one of the most unique seasonal tours in the South.
The group will spend two nights at the Natchez Grand Hotel, located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. After check-in and a little down time, the group will enjoy a dinner at the Biscuits and Blues Restaurant, followed by a show at the Natchez Christmas Cabaret, part of the Natchez Festival of Music.
Day three of the trip begins at the Frogmore Plantation’s “Christmas in the Quarters” tour, which will include stories of the Old South – Civil War soldiers, cotton kingpins, slaves and share-croppers. Lunch will be at the Carriage House Restaurant at Stanton Hall, followed by a tour of that antebellum mansion and Longwood mansion, the largest octagonal house in America that was never completed due to the outbreak of the Civil War. The evening will conclude in downtown Natchez, with a viewing for the Natchez Christmas parade, followed by a tour and dinner at Choctaw Hall and then “Libations at Linden Hall” consisting of a tour of the mansion, cheese straws and a special holiday beverage known as milk punch.
The trip is open to the public; WSCC Alumni Association members enjoy a $100 discount on the cost. The annual membership fee to join the Association is $25, and membership is open to the public. The cost of the trip, based on occupancy and Alumni Association membership, ranges from $670 to $1,105 per person.
