Wallace State basketball teams notch weekend sweep on road
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s basketball team’s swept Wallace Community College-Selma on the road over the weekend.
The Lady Lions cruised to a 74-49 win and the Wallace State men prevailed, 68-51.
In the women’s game, Gabby Hill finished with 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds, Sydney Powell scored 12 points behind four 3-pointers and Alexis Osteen chipped in 11 points off the bench for Wallace State, which is 2-0 on the young season.
Sophomore Joy Sadler contributed nine points and eight rebounds for the Lady Lions, Miajah Bullock added seven points off the bench and Marquise Cobbs pitched in with six points and seven rebounds.
Wallace State led 38-26 at halftime and 54-36 at the end of the third quarter.
Men’s game
Wallace State 68, Wallace Community College-Selma 51
Max Clark had 16 points, seven assists and six steals as the Lions moved to 3-0 on the young season.
Jalen Hodges and Chris Rollins scored nine points apiece for Wallace State, Mike Johnson and Dennis Robinson each scored eight points, Deequan Fleming had eight points and seven rebounds off the bench and Jerry Lwamba pitched in with six points.
Wallace State led 33-28 at the break.
Both Wallace State teams travel to Cleveland State on Tuesday.
