Challie Johnson, of Hartselle, named 2018 Wallace State Homecoming Queen
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Challie Johnson, a Hartselle native, was named Wallace State Community College’s 2018 Homecoming Queen during the annual festivities on Sunday. She was crowned during halftime of the men’s basketball game vs. Southern Union.
Johnson, a business management major, maintains leadership roles in a variety of organizations on campus. She is president of Phi Theta Kappa, vice president of Campus Ministries, a SGA senator and the Rotaract Club’s service chair. Johnson is also a member of Mu Alpha Theta and Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Societies.
Johnson was escorted by Check Freeman, a sophomore on the men’s tennis team and also a Rotaract Club member.
Johnson said being a student at Wallace State has aided in her becoming a more confident person and helping her step outside her comfort zone.
Members rounding out the 2018 Homecoming Court were Lacie Bartlett, of Cullman; Shantanae Desmore, of Fultondale; Emily Dia, of Hayden; and Amanda Hyjek, of Cullman.
Alecia White, Wallace State’s Coordinator of Recruitment and the 2002 WSCC Homecoming Queen, crowned Johnson.
