Wallace State holding March 9 auditions for Performing Arts Scholarships
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College’s Fine and Performing Arts program is gearing up for its second round of auditions to award scholarships to talented students who wish to participate in one or more of the performance groups on campus.
The auditions will be held on Friday, March 9, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Auditions are open to all current Wallace State students and future students.
There are six options for students interested in the performing arts at Wallace State Community College: Jazz Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, Wallace State Singers, Wallace State Choir and Wallace State Theatre. Students can join one or more of the performance groups. Auditions are required for all, except for Wallace State Choir and Concert Band.
In advance of the March 9 auditions, the program is hosting an audition workshop, open to anyone who seeks assistance in preparing for auditions for scholarships, pageants, church choirs, plays, etc. The workshop will be held on Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. The fee is $30 per person and individuals should bring music or accompaniment for a mock audition.
“This workshop would be a great way for students to work the bugs out or tackle some of those nerves before the actual audition,” said Tiffany Richter, director of the Wallace State Singers and Choir.
Scholarship opportunities are available for all of the performing arts programs at Wallace State. Contact Stefany Keisler at 256.352.8277 or stefany.pate@wallacestate.edu for more information.
