Students in the Wallace State Theatre Department have been practicing their sword fighting skills and English accents in preparation for their production of the musical “Peter and the Starcatcher,” March 15-18 in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre.
Based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, “Peter and the Starcatcher” was created by directors Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, written by Rick Elise, with music by Wayne Baker. It follows the story of a young orphan and his mates who are shipped off to a foreign land, a girl named Molly, and the mysterious trunk they try to keep out of the hands of a fearsome pirate.
“The students have been having a great time preparing for their roles,” said Lauren Cantrell Salerno, Director of Wallace State Theatre. “This take on the classic story of Peter Pan is as fun and entertaining for our students as it will be for our audience.”
Wallace State’s cast includes, Riley Adams, John Bullock, Duke Cleghorn, Rayce Cleghorn, Drew Clemons, Samantha Drake, Conner Gully, Aladie Howse, Chloe Nutt, Cheyenne Smith, Brad Steele, Hannah Stringer and Whitney Heaton. Sara Ella Cook is the stage manager.
