Wallace State Choir to present “Homeward Bound: The Story of the American Folk Song”
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Area residents will be able to step back in time through song as the Wallace State Community College Choir presents “Homeward Bound: The Story of the American Folk Song” on Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m., in the Burrow Center Recital Hall.
Concert Choir Director Tiffany Richter said the program will provide an overview of American folk tunes. “Songs like Shenandoah, Deep River, Down in the Valley, etc., originating from the early years of American music, have offered comfort, pleasure and hope to people throughout the last four centuries of American life,” Richter said.
