Wallace State Alumni Association hosting Painting a Future fundraiser
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Community College Alumni Association announced it will host a fundraiser on Monday, July 30, that will let area residents put their creativity to use to create personalized wall or door hangings.
The Painting a Future event will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., on the 12th floor of the Bailey Center. The cost is $25 and includes their choice of a wooden cutout, all supplies, instruction, finishing ribbon/bow/hanger and refreshments. A portion of the proceeds will help provide scholarships for students at Wallace State.
“I’m very excited about this event,” said LaDonna Allen, WSCC Alumni Coordinator. “I know a lot of people who enjoy these types of events and even those who think they have no artistic ability can create something great. We will have people on hand who will help guide them and this medium is very forgiving.
“Also, participants can paint both sides of their pieces, so if they want they can do a Christmas design on one side and a Thanksgiving design on the other,” Allen added. “They can choose to personalize each side to their own needs and tastes.”
Participants who register in advance will be able to choose the shape of the cutout they would like to have for their piece. Shapes offered will be circle, cross, football and mason jar. Online registrations will be accepted through July 26. Limited walk-in space is available and shape selection will be limited as well the day of the event.
