Wallace State volleyball wins road match at Gadsden State; WSCC cross country heads to UAH this weekend
HANCEVILLE, ALA. — Wallace State’s volleyball team remained undefeated this season with a 26-24, 25-15, 25-9 road victory at Gadsden State on Wednesday night.
The Lions moved to 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) action.
Sophomore Lexie Riggins paced the way for Wallace State with 15 kills, Karlee Hale had 12 kills and eight digs, and Maya Jones finished with nine kills.
McKenzie Boland accumulated 33 assists for the Lions and freshman Alexis Snow compiled a team-high 15 digs.
Wallace State has won conference matches thus far against Snead State, Coastal Alabama – South and Gadsden State, extending its regular-season conference match streak to 62 consecutive wins, spanning four seasons.
Wallace State travels to Vincennes, Ind., for a tournament this weekend.
Wallace State cross country
Wallace State’s cross country teams head to UAH on Saturday after opening the season last weekend in Jacksonville State’s Strut’s Opener at Choccolocco Park in Oxford.
In the Strut’s opener, Wallace State’s men placed sixth overall among 16 teams in the 5K, finishing with a 1:24:23.30. The Lions outlasted Reindhardt, Piedmont, Jacksonville State, Shorter, Birmingham-Southern, Alabama State, Point University, Huntingdon, Tuskegee and Miles.
Freshman Eli Wilhite finished 15th overall with a 16:20.00 for Wallace State with teammate Tanner King on his heels in 16th place with a 16:21.70.
Wallace State sophomore Victor Bravo finished 30th overall with a 16:58.10 and Alex Leary recorded a 17:10.60 in 37th place.
Hamza Abusammour placed in the top 50 for Wallace State.
Wallace State’s women finished 14th overall in the 5K.
Tatiana Padgett finished with a 22:59.20 for Wallace State, Taylor Barkley came in with a 23.00.40 and Jacqueline Serrano with a 23:03.30.
