Wallace State Future Foundation plans for annual Student Investment Luncheon
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Future Foundation is gearing up for its 14th annual Student Investment Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m., at the Tom Drake Coliseum. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m.
The event is the largest fundraiser to support scholarships, which help fund tuition, fees and books for academically successful students. The presenting sponsor for the 2018 event is Jackson & Williams Attorneys at Law.
The highlight of the event is the live auction, which includes a wide variety of items up for bid. The big-ticket item this year is a Harley Davidson motorcycle valued at $15,000 donated by Scotty Hooper and Tim Compton. A number of trips and vacation rentals are also on the auction block, including a Premier Winner’s Choice package that includes a five-day, four-night trip, with the winner choosing the destination from 11 different options.
Sports memorabilia are also popular items. Options this year include Alabama and Auburn fire pits created by the Wallace State Welding program, jerseys signed by Tua Tagovailoa and Cam Newton, an Alabama logo football signed by Nick Saban and Gene Stallings with a glass case, a replica of the Alabama 2017 National Championship ring, and four Iron Bowl tickets.
Dozens of items will also be up for silent auction, with a wide variety of offerings, including furniture, a shotgun, Auburn and Alabama tailgate packages, gift baskets, numerous baked goods and more.
“We are so grateful to our donors who provide such wonderful items for these auctions,” said Suzanne Harbin, Director of Advancement at Wallace State. “The money raised through these donations helps students who need assistance to complete their education. Whether it’s to help pay a fee, provide money for fuel to make it to class, buy a book or pay tuition, each little bit makes the way that much easier for students who may otherwise drop classes and give up on continuing their education. For them, that $25, $50 or $100 is the choice between putting food on their family’s table or staying in a class. I’m proud and thankful to our supporters who help them make the choice easier for them.”
Table sponsorships are still available, with prices ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, each providing an 8-seat table for the luncheon and auction and the opportunity to designate scholarships to specific funds. The Gold Table sponsorship at $2,500 provides two $750 book store scholarships in the sponsor’s name. The Premiere Table sponsorship of $5,000 provides a $4,000 one-year tuition/fees scholarship in the sponsor’s name. Individual sponsorships of $125 are also available, with the ability to designate funds to a specific fund or program.
