Wallace State’s Medical Assistant program recognized at Hanceville City Hall during MA Recognition Week
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s Medical Assistant program has been recognized with a proclamation this week, signed by the City of Hanceville for Medical Assistants Recognition Week.
Hanceville City Clerk Tania Wilcox signed the proclamation, stating:
- Whereas, medical assistants are multi-skilled allied health professionals who perform a wide range of administrative and clinical roles with skill, dedication and loyalty; and
- Whereas, medical assistants are the central figures in promoting and maintaining cooperative and successful relationships, between patients and physicians; and
- Whereas, medical assistants are vital members of the health care delivery system; and
- Whereas, medical assistants make a substantial contribution to the quality of health care in the United States;
- Now, therefore, the City of Hanceville does hereby proclaim the week of Oct. 15-19 as Medical Assistants Recognition Week.
Wallace State Medical Assistant students in attendance were Erin Williams, Andrea Big-Powers, Kristin Hart, Baylee Chrietzberg, Whitney Buettner, Morgan Griffin, Ashley Faulkner, Jazmin Bobo, Nicole Smith, Casey Westmoreland, Angel Quinn, Shelby Brown, Katy Massey, Karlie Cook, Elizabeth Gazca, Laura Smithson, Michelle Mendez, Jheny Haynes, Courtney Phelps, Chad Fines, Janie Akins, Paige Chambers, Samantha Herring, Alyson Linn, Sydney Snider, Kelsey Wren, Faulyn Childs, Emily Campbell, Victoria Dodd, Melissa Johnson, Heather Jones, Hannah Pendley, Judea Hullett, Bryanna Neely, Tasha Kreps, Toya Davis and Nicole Gilliland.
Also in attendance were Wallace State’s Health Science Dean Lisa German, Medical Assistant instructors Tracie Fuqua and Lorie Strane; ASMA State President Samantha Steipp and ASMA Vice President Marquitta Breeding.
Medical assisting is an allied health profession whose practitioners function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures. With their unique versatility, medical assistants are proving to be the allied health professional of choice for this decade and beyond. Medical assisting is one of the nation’s fastest growing careers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The American Association of Medical Assistants is the only organization devoted exclusively to serving the professional interests and educational needs of all medical assistants. The association provides numerous services that help medical assistants put their careers on a successful and rewarding track and keep them there.
