Quiz Bowl Team Finishes 5th at Tournament, Competes in Enterprise on Friday
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s Quiz Bowl team has a brand new roster, yet is producing the same impressive results.
Wallace State recently finished fifth at the Alabama College Bowl League (ACBL) Gulf Coast Kickoff Tournament in Bay Minette, racking up 274.44 total points.
Billy Ellis, a West Point High grad, finished fourth individually, earning 77.62 points.
Harrison Wright, Jon Elliott, and Megan Corbett also competed for Wallace State. R.J. Bynum and Gabrielle Quebedeaux are also on the team, but did not travel to the tournament.
Wallace State competed against a 16-team field.
“The team put together a strong effort, especially since it was the first time at a competition like this for some of them. I expect us to improve as the season progresses,” said Wallace State physics instructor and sponsor Christine O’Leary.
Wallace State competes at Enterprise State this weekend.
Wallace State’s Quiz Bowl team finished seventh last season at the National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ Community College Championship held in Rosemont, Ill.
Wallace State is a member of the Alabama College Bowl League.
