MONTEVALLO, Ala. — The University of Montevallo and Wallace State Community College have announced a partnership to offer students an easy transition from the community college to the four-year public university. The formalized program, ContinuUM, offers Wallace State students guaranteed admission to UM and eligibility for scholarships after earning an associate degree or 45 transferable credit hours.
“We are thrilled with the success of our ContinuUM program and are excited to partner with Wallace State,” said Audrey Crawford, director of admissions at UM. “We feel it is important to eliminate barriers and create opportunities to support transfer students in their transition to a four-year university.”
“The University of Montevallo has long provided outstanding transfer opportunities for Wallace State students, and we are excited to embark on this new opportunity to enhance that partnership,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics.
The transfer pathway program allows students the opportunity to better plan for their future careers through pre-transfer advising at UM based on intended major. In addition to the ease in transferring and career services, the ContinuUM program also provides Wallace students with other resources at the University of Montevallo.
Students accepted into the ContinuUM program are issued a Montevallo student ID giving them access to online services including digital library resources through Carmichael Library. The student ID also allows Wallace students to utilize the McChesney Student Activity Center workout areas and to attend UM athletic and student life events. The Montevallo Career Development Center is also available to guide Wallace students through career assessment, internship resources, resume writing and interview skills.
