HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Community College Fine and Performing Arts ArtsKids! program is making plans for the 2019-2020 academic year, with the SingKids! and DanceKids! programs starting things off this fall.
SingKids! will begin classes on Wednesday, Sept. 11, with classes to be held each Wednesday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. through Dec. 3. Through those weeks, the students will prepare to perform in the Dec. 5 Christmas Spectacular hosted by the Wallace State Fine and Performing Arts program.
DanceKids! will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 14, with auditions for its production of “The Nutcracker,” which will be staged Nov. 22 and 23. Classes will be held on Saturdays through Nov. 17 leading up to the performances.
Auditions for “The Nutcracker” will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Sept. 14 for children 8 to 11 years old, with no experience necessary. Auditions for children 12 and up from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
DanceKids! Will provide younger students with basic introductory skill in dance and will provide older dancers with quality training opportunity while participating in the WSCC production of “The Nutcracker.”
Students will experience Clara’s dream come to life as she embarks on a magical journey through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets where she is greeted by the enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy. A holiday classic “The Nutcracker” provides aspiring dancers with an exceptional performance opportunity, bringing together the best local talents and the Allegro Dance Theatre, the WSCC dance company.
