Wallace State Adult Education’s ESL participants at Tyson Foods, Inc., recognized for classroom work

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s Adult Education Department’s ESL (English as a Second Language) partnership with Tyson Foods, Inc., in Blountsville is paying dividends.

Multiple employees in the program were recently honored at the plant for completing 40+ hours in the classroom since the program was launched.

“We’re excited to have formed this partnership and we’re thrilled to see the progress being made. The participants have been working hard and are appreciative for the opportunity,” said Wallace State’s Director of Adult Education Cynthia Arrington. “Tyson Foods has made a great commitment for its employees and we’re glad to help fulfill that need and any need our industry partners present to us.”

ESL classes are taught by Wallace State Adult Education instructors three times a week at Tyson Foods, before or after a shift ends.

Tyson employees in the program have also been encouraged to enroll in free GED prep and job skill development classes offered by Wallace State’s Adult Education program, including the college’s site in Oneonta.
