Wallace State Communications and Marketing Department earns numerous awards

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Community College Communications and Marketing Department earned recognition among its peers recently, receiving numerous awards and honors for their work promoting the college.

During the annual meeting of Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association, the team led the field with nine first-place Pyramid awards, leading the ACCS, and six Awards of Merit and Awards of Achievements for a total of 15 awards.

The team won first-place Pyramid awards in the following categories:

  • Social Media
  • Live Chat
  • Online Advertising
  • Annual Report
  • Course Schedule
  • Student Success Story about alumnus LCDR Christopher Lynn
  • Direct Mail Postcard – Lions’ Pride
  • Special Events – Oneonta Ribbon Cutting/Open House
  • Activity Booklet

Silver and bronze awards were presented for:

  • Student Publications
  • College Promotional Video
  • Website
  • Tabletop Banners/Promotional Advertising
  • Newswriting
  • Photography

In the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 2 awards competition, Wallace State earned seven awards, more than any other college or system in the region except for Santa Fe college and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, each with 8 awards.  District 2 of NCMPR includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and The Bahamas.

Four of the awards were gold, first-place awards for:

  • Direct Mail Postcard
  • Digital Electronic Media
  • Video Shorts
  • TV/Video Advertisement

Silver and bronze awards were presented for:

  • Summer 2019 schedule
  • Social Media
  • Online Marketing Campaign
