Six competing for title of Miss Wallace State on Sunday

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College will crown Miss Wallace State 2020 on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre, with the winner going on to compete in the Miss Alabama competition. Miss Alabama Tiara Pennington will act as mistress of ceremonies.

Six young women are vying for the title of Miss Wallace State, taking over for Miss Wallace State 2019 Emma Wright of Blountsville. Contestants include Isabella Allred, Serah Hudson, Lacey Johnson, Sydney Newton, Emilie Northern and Callie Sterling.

Allred, 17, of Cullman, is a General Studies major, and her talent will be a vocal performance.

Hudson, 19, of Hanceville, is a Psychology major, and her talent will be an acro lyrical dance.

Johnson, 19, of Pinson, is a General Studies major, and her talent will be a lyrical dance.

Newton, 19, of Bremen is a General Studies-Pre-Engineering major, and her talent will be tap dance.

Northern, 19, of Union Grove, is a General Studies major, and her talent will be contemporary dance.

Sterling, 20, of Cullman, is a Graphic Design/Visual Communications major, and her talent will be sign language.

The winner of the Miss Wallace State competition will go on to compete in June at the Miss Alabama competition, which is a preliminary of the Miss America program. She will receive a one-year renewable tuition scholarship to Wallace State, a $250 cash scholarship and more than $1,500 in prizes from sponsors.

The first runner-up will receive a $250 cash scholarship and the talent winner will receive a $100 cash scholarship.

Pennington and Wright will both perform during the event. Admission to the competition is $10 for general admission and $5 for Wallace State students (with badge) and school-age children.
