Wallace State hosting Transfer Summit Feb. 4

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College is hosting a Transfer Summit on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, in the Bailey Center for students seeking information about the transfer process from Wallace State to a four-year university.

At least six four-year universities will be on hand, including Athens State University, Jacksonville State University, The University of Alabama, The University of Alabama at Birmingham, The University of Alabama in Huntsville, and The University of North Alabama.

The event will begin with an information session at 9:30 a.m., provided by Karen Morris in the Bailey Center Auditorium where students will learn about Pathways, which were created to help streamline the education process for students and prevent them from taking classes they may not need. They will also receive descriptions of the metamajors that make up Pathways: Applied Technology, Health Science, Liberal Arts/General Studies, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Participating four-year universities will then provide information about their institutions, including opportunities they offer for students in specific metamajors and scholarship opportunities for transfer students.

After the presentations, students will be able to visit with transfer representatives in the lobby, get literature about their schools of interest and about scholarship opportunities.

“The Transfer Summit is a great opportunity for any student who is thinking about transferring or will be transferring to a four-year university,” said Jennifer McRea of Wallace State’s Advising Center. “They’ll have the opportunity to meet with representatives of colleges and gather important information for planning their future.”
