HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s Center for Career and Workforce Development continues to prepare Wallace State students during the COVID-19 pandemic, sharing job openings on its Facebook page and providing interview and resume tips.

The Center for Career and Workforce Development’s Ready to Work program has also transitioned to online offerings, delivering soft skills training that individuals need for employment. These skills include ACT Work Keys, Technology Basics, Money Management, Communication, Workplace Behaviors, Problem Solving and Job Prep. Upon completion of the program, participants are awarded a one-time scholarship for one college course (up to four credit hours).

“We know this is a stressful time for many individuals and we want them to know we’re still providing the same services. We’re here for them,” said Jamie Blackmon, Wallace State’s Director of the Center for Career and Workforce Development. “We’re working to add Community Education courses online like English as a second language, genealogy and advanced computer classes.”

Recent job openings posted to the program’s Facebook page include employment options at the Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network, Carlton’s Italian Restaurant in Cullman, Agcor Steel, Lowe’s, Dollar General, Aldi, Amazon, Dollar Tree, Domino’s, Kroger, Papa John’s, Publix, Reliance Worldwide, Walmart Distribution, River Valley Ingredients, HomTex, American Classics and IBC Solar.
