Kappa Beta Delta International Honor Society proudly announces that Nicholas Parrott, Wallace State Community College, Hanceville, Alabama, has received the 2017 Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson Merit Scholarship.
Overland Park, Kansas, 1, May, 2017 — Nicholas Parrott, Wallace State Community College, Hanceville, Alabama, has received the 2017 Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson Merit Scholarship in the amount of $1,000, for his commitment to academic excellence and active involvement in his community.
“I have found Nicholas to be one of the most conscientious students with whom I have worked, and his care and concern for others is displayed daily. He is outgoing, cordial, and always searching for ways to help others, as evidenced by his job in the tutoring lab. He was part of our Lions’ Pride student panel this summer and provided very thoughtful, thorough answers to questions asked by new students. He understands that value of education and the potential it provides and uses that as his motivation to balance his school-work-personal life,” says Whit Rice, Advisor and Graduation Coach at Wallace State Community College.
He currently holds a 3.8 GPA after passing 80 hours and will earn an AAS in Financial Management in May, with plans to pursue a degree in Finance at Mississippi State this fall.
Parrott added: “I would like to sincerely thank the Andrew V. Stevenson family, Board of Directors of Kappa Beta Delta International Honor Society, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, and remarkable faculty at Wallace State Community College, I know Andrew would be proud. For me, this is an amazing feat and incredible moment! There has been a significant amount of hard work, late nights, and great sacrifices in order to make this moment possible. I am truly grateful and honored, thank you!”
Parrott was also one of two students from Wallace State named to the Alabama Community College System’s All-Alabama Academic Team. In addition to Kappa Beta Delta, he’s involved with Rotaract and Phi Theta Kappa among other groups.
