Wallace State volleyball completes conference sweep, remains unbeaten in ACCC action

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s volleyball team notched two more conference victories on Thursday night, sweeping Bevill State (25-17, 25-8, 25-8) and Wallace Community College – Selma (25-13, 25-8, 25-14) at Tom Drake Coliseum.
The Lions (19-6, 9-0 Alabama Community College Conference) have won 10 matches in a row and extended their ACCC winning streak to 51 matches, spanning four regular seasons.
Wallace State’s sophomore trio of Abby Borden, Kaylee Maddox and Emily Wilson paced the way against the Bears. Borden had 39 assists and four digs, Maddox finished with 11 kills and four digs and Wilson racked up 20 digs.
Freshman Lexie Riggins contributed 11 kills and four digs for the Lions and Kati Thomas added seven kills.
Wallace State also cruised against the Patriots.
Borden finished with 33 assists and six digs for Wallace State. She leads the conference with 862 assists.
Maddox had 11 kills and nine digs, Wilson collected 22 digs, Thomas had nine kills and Riggins and Alex Wiggins added six kills apiece.
Wallace State won a road match at Gadsden State on Wednesday, prevailing 27-25, 25-17, 25-16.
Wiggins finished with 13 kills and six digs for the Lions, Courtlyn Barber had 10 kills and five digs, Borden finished with 34 assists and six digs, Wilson had 21 digs and Riggins contributed five kills and four digs.
Wallace State hosts Coastal Alabama – Brewton today at 1 p.m.
